My family is the worst around the holidays. I'm pretty sure I've bitched about it here before. It the same old shit every holiday so this year I decided to spice it up a bit. I'm hosting my first ever Christmas Eve! Initially I had intended to do it the old school Italian way and serve 7 fish, but I changed my mind. Too much work and we don't eat that much fish anyway. So the menu is..... Shrimp cocktail, fried calamari (still need some seafood), an antipasto bar, salad, pasta amatriciana, sauteed broccoli rabe, grilled asparagus roasted potatoes and roasted red snapper. I'm hungry just thinking about it. Alas, while it sounds delicious, it is causing me more stress then I would have imagined. That's probably because nobody would confirm if they were coming and then yesterday 8 people confirmed with 2 listed as maybes!!! Holy hell how did I go from no one to everyone that fast?? I'm totally overwhelmed, but I think I can pull it off and if I can, it may be nice to have a new tradition.
In other news, our year end bonuses were direct deposited today!!!! Of course it immediately went out to pay my high ass credit card bills but I am now officially DEBT FREE!!! Ahhh. All day long I've been singing..Joy to the World my bills are paid la lalallalala. Yay!

Unfortunately, we are all kind of snobby eaters. They would look at me like I had 10 heads if I catered. My grandmother tried one year and almost lost an arm in the melee that ensued.
I'm so jealous that you're debt free...
