I have been holding off on writing about my weekend in DC because I wanted to post pics of my Pup all around town. As it turns out, I've been too lazy to upload the pictures onto the computer which is a shame because they really are cute. I don't know when I'll have a few minutes to get it done, so I decided to just write about it now.
We headed out of NY 6 am Friday. The ride was uneventful and we arrived in DC around 10-ish and made a bee line for one of our favorite places....Teaism. Teaism is a tea house that has a few locations all over the city. We go to the one in Dupont Circle and we go for one thing only.... bubble tea. Before we moved down there, I had never heard of bubble tea before. Now I'm an addict. At one point a bought a 6 lb bag of tapioca so that I could make it at home. Most of the bag went bad before I could use it, but my intention was good. For those of you that don't know, bubble tea is tea...usually iced....with tapioca pearls in the bottom of the cup. It is served with a huge ass straw so that you can suck up the pearls. I know it sounds weird, and it probably is, but if you find a good place that makes it, it is SO close to heaven.
After the stop to get my fix, we went down to my old job at the Watergate, parked the car and headed out on foot. We took the pup down to the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and reflecting pool before carryiing on to the tidal basin to see the Cherry Blossoms. Had I not been a lazy bum, I would insert a pick of the gorgeous trees here. After walking around the city, we checked into our hotel to get rested up. Right after we got into the room, a hotel person delivered all this special dog stuff for the Pup! They delivered him a huge ass fluffy bed and a special area rug with cut outs for the fancy bowls it came with. I was thoroughly impressed. So was Pup lol. He was pouncing on that bed like nobody's business. So as not to bore everyone with a play by play of the rest of the trip, I will summarize here: walked around the old neighborhood, ate Chipotle, ordered room service for breakfast, noticed it was pouring outside, took dog to a dog adoption at the local pet store to socialize, noticed the sun shine, headed into the city, had a wonderful dinner at a local wine place, ordered more room service, watched the White House Easter thing from the gate at the White House, drove home.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend. I love The Boy and being back there with him...without all the drama....really helps to remind me how far we've come and all that we've been through together. I'm excited about all our plans for the future, especially for moving to and exploring a new city again. Being back in the old neighborhood really feels so nice. Nobody else in our families understand it. They don't know it like we do. It was our special place and it always will be. I can't wait to have that again somewhere new. Now, if he would only propose :-/
