Stories

Ahh sorry it's been a while. I'm seriously going to kill someone in the office. It's supposed to get LESS busy in the summer but instead, it's getting worse. Anyway, quick update....The New Kids concert was eh. Totally a let down after the last two shows. I'm officially sticking to my original statement, I'm done.

Onto the engagement story....First the backstory....The Boy and I had kind of been throwning around the idea of getting married this year. We had been hearing so much about the deals people were getting because of the economy. It started as a joke but progressed into some more serious conversation which progressed to nothing. I had really given up hope that he was serious and was starting to think he was never going to come around and I was going to have to reallyrethink my life. Anyway before things got to that point my sister suggested we go nosy around some local bridal shops in the area to take a look at stuff and see what's out there. I agreed. By the time that weekend rolled around I was feeling stupid wishing I never agreed to it. Cue story-

We had gotten woken up super early that Saturday morning by the cats and couldn't fall back to sleep. Not wanting to get up yet, we just laid in bed chatting about life which ended up with us chatting about love and us. It was a really beautiful personal convo that I will never share, but it ended on this note... TB- So where are you going today? Me- uh, to the mall with my sister. TB- (eyeing me suspiciously) ok. But where are you REALLY going? Me- (so completely embarrassed) to look at wedding dresses. TB-Jade, you can't go wedding dress shopping without a ring. At this point I thoguht he was making fun of me and I started to cry, a lot. I told him I knew it was stupid and I felt like a fool enough and I wanted to cancel. Now there were tears rushing down my face and I was sniffling like a nut. I asked for a tissue. He said he didn't have one but to check my night stand. I turned around to check and found nothing. I turned back around and there he was sitting there with the ring TB- No, I mean you can't go dress shopping without a ring. Needless to say I continued to cry. Apparently at some point he asked me to marry him and I said yes I'd be his wife, but really I have no recollection. He remembers, I don't. lol.

It was a totally surreal moment. He later fessed up that he had been ring shopping since January and had originally been working with one of my favorite Japanese jewlers to custom make a ring, but it was way too expensive. He also said he had bigger more romantic plans for the proposal but the constant rain was killing them every weekend. In reality though, I think this was the perfect romantic proposal for us. It was in our home that we love and nobody was there but us. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

After we hugged and kissed, he pulled away and look me in the eyes as though he was about to say something so profound. Instead he said "Let's go look at it sparkle in the light!" That's my boy. haha

ow my god, CONGRATS!!!!! I'm so happy for you. :D

What a romantic proposal. You don't need the big stuff, all you need is him (and a ring) asking you to marry him.

How did it sparkle in the light?

I like it. I like that he finally man-up'd and put your anxiety about the whole situation to rest!

You deserved it after the tough year you had.

And, your ring is gorgeous!!! It looks like it sparkles plenty in the light!
