Maui Wowwie

Look at me posting again!! I promised I'd fill you all in on the honeymoon. It was FABULOUS. We both were nervous that the ridiculously long flight would suck, but it really wasn't half bad. We had lay overs in LA coming and going so it really broke up the flights perfectly. 5.5 hours to LA 5.5 hours to Maui from LA. I was just about ready to get stir crazy when we would land and move on. Being in LAX was killing me a little. I have never been to California. I'm dying to go, so sitting there for 2 hours made me so antsy. I just wanted to hop a cab and see the city! Obviously there was no time for that. Anyway... Maui.

We stayed at the Grand Wailea. The hotel was amazing. I'm kind of obsessed with Trip Advisor and had read reviews about it being crowded and over run with children, but a friend had mentioned that it was only like that during school vacation times. We took the chance and were so happy we did. Although there was an adult pool, we spent all of our time around the ridiculously awesome pool/water slide/ lazy river section. And the beach....unreal. One day we went kayaking off the beach at the hotel and went snorkeling. Our guide took The Boy and I to this one particular section near an underwater cave and TB swam with sea turtles!! I was too busy sulking in the kayak because I got stung by a microscopic jelly fish that nobody saw but me. Whatever, they are just blind I suppose. lol. Once again my dramatic side kept me from being an adult and suckign it up he he.

We really did so much in the time we were in Maui. We didn't visit any other islands becase we were only gone for a week. Seeing as we got engaged in June and married in October, I didn't plan to have enough vacation time. We had all our regular trips planned and had to squeeze in honeymoon lol. One night we went to a luau in Lahaina which was so much fun. TB was loving the chicks in coconut bras. He also pointed out that those coconut bras come in many different sizes lol. Anyone going to Maui, do the road to Hana. It's long and windy and sometiems plain old scary, but the views are unreal. We rented a convertible so it was pretty awesome. Driving through the bamboo forest was simply one of my favorite things ever.

Sunrise at Haleakala was also pretty awesome. Haleakala is the big volcano on Maui and it is about a 2 hour ride to the crater, but we did it. We bundled up and woke up super early and hopped in the car to make it to the top in time for sunrise. I should mention that everyday was full of sunshine and 85 degree weather. At the top of the volcano it was about 35 and the wind was ridiculous!!! It was so cold it was painful. Once the sun came up and we ooohed and ahhhed, my ass was back in the car so fast! Ahh we also learned to surf!! My sister bought us 2 days of surf lessons for our wedding. It was so much fun. It was far easier than I would have expected ti to be. It totally made me realize that I could never live anywhere without an ocean nearby.

Which is something else I have to fill you all in on. The Boy and I are considering leaving NY when we are finished with school. There are about 5 cities on our list and we are spending this year taking trips to each of them to narrow down the field. I'll get into those details next post.

I realize that I'm probably rambling and you may not actually want to hear all these silly Hawaii details. It was just so amazing that once I start talking, I can't stop. Instead of continuing, I'm going to post a few pics so you can see for yourself!

Gross! What a terrible place for a honeymoon. I mean who would want to stay somewhere by the beach with clear water, gorgeous sand, and awesome palm trees. And that view! Ugh, I have to try to keep my lunch down! ;)

Looks like you guys had a blast. Hawaii just got back in the running.

P.S.: as if you couldn't tell, the above comment was brought to you by sarcasm. :)
