My Grandpa passed away this morning. I'm surprisingly composed. I'm even at work. Weird thing is, I had a crazy dream about this happening and had to be woken from my sleep this morning. Apparently, I was screaming in my sleep. An hour later, I got the call from my mom.
I had been with him at the house every night after work. Seeing him that way has just been heartbreaking. He was such a proud man. He never wanted help. If he hadn't fallen and been admitted to the hospital, we would have never known what was wrong. I'm glad that he is at peace now, but I will miss him so much.
I'll be back sometime next week. I hope everyone else enjoys their weekend. I have some money on the Super Bowl so maybe I will win some dough for some retail therapy/grief counseling :-)

I'm very sorry! I lost my grandpa a few days before Christmas, and know what you mean about being composed...I was fine, didn't really stray from my normal routine, but completely lost it at the funeral...ugh.....

my condolences. because he was so sick you were already saying goodbye before he died. that's why you're so composed.
I am so sorry I hear about your grandpa. It must be horrible to have watched him go through the last couple weeks. Take some time to look after yourself!

My sister had a similar experience a few months after our grandpa died... she had a dream where she saw him all over the place... on a bus, at the grocery store etc etc... eventually she talked to him and he said he just wanted to say goodbye. Then she woke up and cried.
Aww....So sorry about your gramp, but at least he is in a peaceful place.
