The Transformation of The Boy

The Boy took a job last year at a very well known university in our area. He made the move in part because of the better hours and higher pay, but mostly for the free graduate school tuition. TB studied his butt off, took the GMAT and submitted his application to the University's MBA program. It was during this time I began to notice a difference in him. He went from being all "I'm in no hurry to get married. I'm so young blah blah bla" to " you know this degree is going to help me become the best provider I can be for you and our children." To me that was a HUGE surprise. Even after living together for 2 years he was still on the whole, I'm so young what's the rush kick. Now here we are 3+ years living together and I almost couldn't believe my ears. As excited as I was to hear him saying these things, I decided not to go overboard because I was worried he might change his mind. (We've been down that road before but I'll have to explain that in another post)

TB was accepted into the program. It is very exciting to think that he is going to make this dream of his come true! It will take a long time though - 3 years if he takes 3 classes in spring and fall semesters and 2 in the summers. Plus he is working full time so it really is going to be tough on him.....and me too! We spend so much time together, it is going to be weird to have him always on the go. But there is a very positive light at the end of the tunnel, so I will suck it up and be the most supportive girlfriend ever!

Anyway, a few weekends ago we spent some time with a childhood friend of mine and her 1 year old daughter. The next morning, The Boy and I are just hanging out making breakfast and it kind of dawns on me that, one day, we will have a family. We will have children. The thought kind of caught me off guard and TB picked up on it. "You okay?" To which I blurted out "We're going to have kids!" Judging by the look on his face, I could tell he misunderstood. "I mean one day we are going to have a family together. Isn't that crazy!?" And this was the kicker for me..... The Boy then tells me that he has been thinking about that a lot lately and he wants us to start a family as soon as he finishes school!!! Er, did I mention that is only 3 years away!? I almost fell over from the shock of it all lol. It made me very happy to hear this from him, but I was still very surprised that he was thinking of it all. I gave him a big hug and a kiss and took the opportunity to mention something that was on my mind "that sounds great baby. Maybe we could get married before then, wink wink." To which he replies "Oh we will definitley be married well before then." Well hot damn!! Apparently this boy knows something I don't!

That is so exciting. I love when boys finally grow up into men. And men that we want to be with!

I hear you on the three year thing. The other day, Cakes was like 'we should enjoy this time, in about three years they will be non-existant, kids have a way of making you get out of bed'!

I was like , say what? Three years is right around the corner. I can't wait to have that though;)
