So in an interesting twist, one of my friends at work got engaged this past weekend. I'm very excited for her because they have been together for a long many years and she had actually put him on a secret deadline. The secret deadline being if he didn't commit to her with a proposal by the end of the year, she was moving on. It's a secret deadline because she didn't tell him. I like that idea because then there is no ultimatums. You just know what you want for you and make decisions for yourself. It was a good idea for her because she is in her early 40's and is still hoping to have children.
Annnnyway, I was telling The Boy about their engagement and the proposal and all and he started asking about her ring. I explained that it was a princess cut solitaire bla bla bla. He says "No I mean what kind of diamond?" Er, I just said square. "No, I mean the quality. Is it Ideal cut? What color grade is it? Did she mention if it was VS1 or VV?" Okay to be honest, at this point I was so confused. I don't know much about diamonds except the shape I like and the fact that I love the way they sparkle.
This might be a good time to mention that when I met The Boy we used to joke about his lack of knowledge in the jewelry department. You know, "No babe, that's a raisin, NOT my earring" and jokes of that sort. Now all of a sudden he is talking color grade and cuts, WHAT!? Although I was freaking out on the inside, I calmy replied that I had no idea. He then made a comment about how he much prefers a solitaire to some other things that are in style right now, namely pave settings. Hello!! What man knows what a pave setting is?? I know, mine never has before. At this point I was peeling my heart off the ceiling I was so excited by this little convo. Am I crazy or does it seem like someone has been doing his homework!? I wanted so bad to call him out on his sudden knowledge, but I chose not to say anything. I mean what if he just happened to read an article or something and he really isn't researching. Sigh. On one hand I want to be super excited but on the other, I don't want to be let down if I'm all wrong. He and I have kinda been down that road before and it really messed with my head. Ahhhh in the meantime I guess I can fill my days trampsing around Bluenile.com ;-)

Nope, he's definitely been doing some research. Boys don't remember articles they come across about diamonds. He may even be trying to get an idea of what you like :)
Yay!
That is a great sign. He is defintely doing his research.
Shar is right, he is trying to get a feel of the ring style you like ;)
LOVE IT
