The list

Okay, I'm back and feeling much better after my last rant. It helps to know that you guys get it. Apparently, pushing our buttons is something that is taught in Man School. Anyway, back to the list.

When I first saw it, I froze. I could not believe he thought things were so bad he might actually leave. I felt my heart drop into my stomach and then, I read it. To be honest, I cannot quite remember the Reasons to Go. I think I have just blocked them out. I mean, nobody likes to see their faults written out IN LIST FORM by the person they love most. The one thing I do remember was the last thing named on the Reasons to Stay list..... "constant supply of great sex." Truthfully, it made me laugh out loud. Well for all of like a minute until I realized that he might actually be staying even when he wants to go, all for sex! The Boy was upstate for the weekend helping his mother with a project when I called him. They were in the car on the way to Home Depot when he answered. Him: "Hi baby!" Me: "So, do you think you're like Ross now?" "Excuse me? Ross who?" "You know Ross from Friends. All this list is missing is She's not Rachum (that episode is too funny) and you'd be his twin!" "What the hell are you.....oh." "Exactly."

Obviously, this was not a discussion that should be had in front of anyone's mother so he had to call me back later. I was steaming mad. Once he was able to, he returned my call and I could feel the regret in his voice. After he apologized a million times, he explained that he did write the list, but partly out of jest. Hence the sex thing. He fessed up to thinking about leaving at one point, but said that he knew he loved me too much to walk away. I was satisfied with the conversation after he called himself stupid for the 100th time and said we'd revisit the situation when he got home.

That Sunday night, we had one of those talks that leaves you feeling like you just ran a marathon. In the end, we had gotten a lot off our chests and both felt like we had a turned a new leaf (wait, is that how the saying goes?) That was almost 2 years ago, and we have truly been pretty solid ever since. I think that the situation forced us to get every last thing off our chests and move forward, which we did happily. Everything was great for a few months and then we both got thrown for a loop the night of the accident.
