Summer fun!

I'm so excited! The Boy and I have just booked a mini getaway weekend to Wildwood, NJ for next week. After some research I managed to find a great little family owned motel that accepts dogs! Now we can bring The Pup along for our weekend. We used to do things like this all the time, but seriously having a dog hampers the fun a bit. I don't like to have to ask people to watch him. I just feel like it's my responsibility not anyone else's, you know? Anyway, I am super excited to be getting away just the two of us!! We spend weekends upstate with The Boy's family every few months, but it's not the same as getting away alone.

I grew up havng summer vacations on the Jersey Shore, but we never went to Wildwood. This is actually new for the both of us. My mother still rents a house in a different town on the shore every year, but we are never able to make it because there is no one to watch the animals and my mother refuses to let us bring The Pup (the cats can take care of themselves for one night.) This year was no different. We had our annual fight about the dog and I decided that I was not dealing with it anymore. I was going to make my own mini vacation. I hopped on this great website called dogfriendly.com and started looking for hotels and within 30 minutes I had it all figured out. I called the place to make sure they didn't have any strange dog rules (like the dog can't be left alone in the room or you haev to leave it in a cage when you're gone) and the woman was a complete doll. She was so friendly and warm that I immediately had a good feeling about the place.

Apparently there are some great places to walk the dog nearby as well as a dog beach just a few exits away. Now, to be honest, I don't think we'll be doing much dog beach. It really doesn't sound the least be relaxing to me. I plan on doing some nice walks with The Pup in the am when it's cool and then hitting the humans only beach with my Boy during the day!! Both the beach and the boardwalk (with rides and games!) are a block or so from the hotel so it should be perfect. I am really looking forward to reconnecting with TB. Our schedules have been crazy lately and even though we live together I still miss him. Does that sound weird?

This should be a good weekend to get all the sunburn out of the way. We are taking a family trip in August to celebrate my mother's 50th birthday and we would like to have a base tan before we get there. I wasn't allowing myself to get excited about that trip until we found a house/dog/cat sitter...which we did! The Boy's sister has agreed to stay at our place while we are gone. Now I am excited to get to Jamaica, but at the same time, I'm dreading it a little. You see, my mother and I don't exactly get along real well. She's a bit of a drama queen and I have zero patience for her. We have a great phone relationship, but put us in a room together and we last about 35 minutes. Fortunately, the Sandals resort we are staying at is HUGE. I have already called and requested that we are in a different end of the resort. I need my space lol. The Boy and I are Sandals Signature Guests which means that we get free upgrades upon arrival. The woman at the resort told us she will do whatever she can to make sure our upgrade is far away.

I think I may officially be babbling. I did realize though that I never really got into the relationship I have with my mom. I think it's about time I explained that. Next post.

I went to Wildwood once when I was like 14. I went on an Matterhorne type ride. There were these two hotties about 2 cars ahead of me and I was trying to be SOOO cool riding this thing. So it's spinning round and round, up and down... then slows down... they look back and giggle... then the ride starts going backwards... round and round, up and down... uh oh... I don't feel so great... oh man.. this isn't good... I know if I actually puke it's going to go all over them... so... I do... but I manage to keep it in... the ride ends and I slowly step out and go sit by the side... I never saw those two hotties again. And I've never ridden another Matterhorn again.

I know exactly what you mean, I always feel SO bad asking people to dogsit for me! My parents do it alot and I feel bad like she's my dog I should be watching her. I wish more places were pet friendly, I'm glad this place you're going is!

I heart the Jersey shore and all that comes with it. The beach, the sun, the orange and vanilla twist ice cream, the rides, the boardwalk, the NJ teen trash. Ahhhh...the memories.

You will be having a fantastic time, Wildwood is a fun town. Enjoy!

That'll be so nice to have a weekend away! I'm just a little jealous! My boyfriend and I had a very long weekend at the cottage...but my parents, uncle and cousin were there...not so romantic, you know?

I just wanted to say that I don't think it's weird at all that you miss The Boy while you living under the same roof. That has happened a lot in my marriage anyway. It's one of those things that is good to be mindful of because before you know it you feel like strangers sitting next to each other zoning out and watching tv. It's good to keep things spicy, :D.

Your vacations sounds great...have fun!
