That time of the year....

My birthday is next week. Blegh. I normally wouldn't care so much, but with all the other shit going on in my life, I just hadn't been feeling it this year. Apparently though, The Boy is. Now, I have to give him credit, he usually does a bang up job of making my birthday's special. I wasn't really expecting much this year though. I mean, with all that he's been feeling or whatever, it didn't seem likely that we'd be doing much. Because of this, I hadn't even brought it up. Then he asks if I'm excited for my birthday. Should I be? He says definitely because we have plans Saturday. I was surprised, but not as surprised as I was when he told me I needed to get a "nice dress" for the occasion! Usually my instructions are to wear jeans a nice shirt and some heels, but never a dress!!! Needless to say, I am more than curious and definitely excited.

It is about this time of the year that I begin to prep myself for the holidays. The week after my birthday is always Thanksgiving which means Christmas is just around the corner follwed swiftly by New Years. Blegh to them all. I'm just not a big fan of the holidays. They have always been a reminder of how screwy my family is. My mother's family gets together every year and tortures themselves with a meal. As soon as it's over we're all scrambling for the door. I'm sure it will be no different this year. My father's family is not in NY which is fine by me, but he's not either and that makes me sad. Usually I fly down to him Christmas night, but because of the impromtu trip to Ireland, I'm holding off until his birthday in January. Flights to Florida around the holidays are absurdly expensive anyway. I literally paid less for my Ireland trip then I was being quoted for airfare to my dad's. Weird.

On a different note, I was debating whether or not to even tell my New Kids story. I seriously think it loses something in translation, but after speaking to Sloane and telling her the story verbally (if the email weirdo reads this, I too can attest to her reality) and while she agrees that it may lose something she thinks I totally have to share it. So I will....because I'm really still high off of the experience. lol. Stay tuned.

Ugh the holidays. I got an e-mail saying only 25 nights and it's St. Nicolas (Dec 5). And another e-mail saying only 6 weeks till Christmas.

Yeah I know we celebrate the guy twice.
We had him first in the beginning of Dec. And then when the US became so "powerful" and then stuff from there came here, the guy came back with a newish name.

Hope your Bday's going to be fun. :D
