Good Deed of the Day

What an interesting morning. It started out boring enough. I rolled out of bed and got to the normal morning routine of feeding all my fur babies and then walking the pup. Pup and I head out along our normal route just like any other morning. Shortly after we start out, a dog starts barking. We can't seem to find it anywhere, but we hear it. I realize then that it is coming from the back of the SUV parked near where we are walking. At first I think nothing of it, but then I realized that I saw that car parked there yesterday too. I got a little nervous. As I have mentioned before, I am a huge animal lover. Anyway, pup and I continue our rounds and head back in. I stopped at the front desk of the building to mention what I have seen, but they didn't know anything and said they couldn't do much because the car was parked on the street in front of the building and not on the property. I went upstairs, still hoping that I was mistaken. Since The Boy walks the pup at night, I asked him if he noticed the truck. He did AND the dog was there the night before too. Some crazy jerk left their dog in that car for at least 12 hours!!! It was damn cold here last night too.

I was so upset that I immediately called the police. Although I did not think to take the license plate number down I was able to give an accurate description of the car and it's location on the street. The woman told me they would send a car over. TB and I finished getting ready and headed out. We strolled passed and peeked in the car as there were no cops in sight. Sure enough the dog was still in there. I was a little worried that the cops wouldn't actually show, so I decided to take the late train (woo hoo no Train Friend for me today!!!). TB and I hung around in front of the building for a few minutes and up rolled a cop. Being the nosy person I am, I walked over to talk to the cop. He noticed that the registration had been ripped out of the window and thought that the whole thing seemed a little weird. The cop also discovered that there were 2 dogs in the truck!!!! He took my statement and promised they would get the dogs out and also said if the owner showed up they were going to arrest them!! I felt so much better and headed off to work. The Boy was teasing me about how I can ignore people beating the crap out of each other in the street but when an animal needs help I'm off to the rescue! What can I say, sometimes I just like animals better than people lol.

I called the precinct a little while ago to check in and they did get the dogs out yeahhh :-)

Awww poor doggies! I'm the same...if something happens to a person I can be somewhat indifferent, but if an animal is hurt I'll cry for days!!! A couple years ago I was watching the Gray's Anatomy finale and it was leaked that a character would die...a little into the episode they had to put a dog to sleep and I was bawling...and had to record the rest of the episode to watch later.... I'm a little bit of a loser like that.

I'm glad the cops took you seriously and everything...strange story though, who would do that to a dog!

Who the hell does that to poor, innocent animals?? I'm so glad there are people like you to notice these things and do something about it. Or maybe I need to stop walking around with my head in a cloud ;)
