Okay back to the story of me and The Boy and our life, then:
After less than 6 months of dating, The Boy and I packed up our car and headed down to the DC area for the weekend. We figured we had nothing to lose. It was a free trip AND we could always say no to the job offer. Since many of The Boy's college friends had moved to the area after school, we also thought it would be a good time to catch up. After 4 hours, we had finally made it. We spent the first night just hanging with friends and catching up, but we were up and at 'em very early Saturday morning. Our potential employer took us to the store that I would be working at and out to the suburbs to the store The Boy would be working at. Everything seemed pretty cool. So when we were done, TB and I decided to check out apartments in the area, just in case. A large percentage of the area is corporate owned high rises, so we just went from building to building checking them out. We were shocked at what you could get for your money down there, but were still not convinced. That is until we saw the last building of the day. The apartment was HUGE and had an awesome balcony that overlooked the pool. To top it all off, all utilities were included woo hoo lol. Anyway, we had kind of hit it off with the leasing agent and she was able to put the apartment on a 24 hour hold for us. As a side note, Leasing Agent is now one of my closest friends :-)
We had a lot to think about so we went out to play tourist and site see while discussing our options. For some reason, that day is forever engraved in my memory. I remember the weather and the smells of the city that day. I don't think I'll ever forget them. The Boy and I wandered all over downtown DC that day and saw so many historic landmarks for the first time. I still think it's kind of ridiculous that I had never been to the nation's capital before then. I mean seriously, it is like 4 hours from here by car and 45 minutes by plane! Anyway, while sitting near a pond, in a park near the Lincoln Memorial, we decided to take the plunge and try something new!! We signed the lease the next day and officially became Northern Virginia residents 2 weeks later!!! How's that for spontaneous!? haha It was so awesome being on our own. We only had each other to lean on and, over the course of our 2 years there, that really made us a strong couple. And boy did I really need someone to lean on. Especially after I started working. Apparently, spending 2 weeks in a training class with someone does not mean you know them. I don't think it took longer than a week for New Boss to show his true, absolutely crazy in a very bad way, colors.
