Now that I have most dug out from under the pile of work left for me from last week, I decided to write a bit. I realize though, that I don't really have much to say. Well that's not exactly true, cause I could ramble on about a lot of things, but none would be in any logical context, so instead I will discuss reality tv. Does anyone else have an odd obsession with it? I watch so many reality shows: American Idol, So you think you can dance, America's next top model, Rock of Love, Scott Baio (I really think he is too funny), The Amazing Race....seriously, I love most of it.
I definitely thought I would enjoy that new one The Moment of Truth too. The coming attractions looked funny enough. After a few episodes, I thought it was a little boring but then came the episode with the wife who made all the headlines. Did any of you catch that!? This woman went on national TV and admitted to cheating on her husband, to marrying him while she was still in love with another man AND admitting that she wishes she married her ex-boyfriend!!! Meanwhile, her poor husband had to sit there with her family and listen!!!!! The funniest part is that after all of that she loses on the question "Do you think you are a good person?" This crazy lady actually answers yes and is told by the computer that she is a liar.
Anyway, I guess my point, if I even have one, is that I don't understand how people would want to do this. I mean, the grand prize is only $500,000 and after taxes it's way less. Now don't get me wrong I realize that it is still a huge amount of money, but is it enough money to sacrifice your family, friends and loved ones. In this particular case, it's obvious this women felt that money was worth making a fool of her husband on national TV. In post show interviews she admitted to hoping she would win and be able to start her life again somewhere.
Apparently since that show aired and was covered my so many media outlets, the Moment of Truth has continued with the same type of questions. In the commercials promoting tonight's show, a wife is answering similar questions about her relationship with her husband. Now is it just me, or have people really sunk to a new low? I could never imagine doing something like this. Everyone has their secrets no mater how big or how small. They are secrets for a reason. Why are people so willing to sell themselves, husbands/wives, families out for some money??
